As part of this Birmingham Book Festival event I read an extract from my short story, The Hills and the Fortune.

Together with three other NAW students, I ran a Creative Writing session with secondary school pupils on the Gifted and Talented scheme. This was part of a four-day series of events to encourage and develop young people’s writing.

ETAS SIG Day conference, Basel, Switzerland, September 2009

I gave an online presentation, via Skype video link, to English Language teachers about the use of literature in the exam classroom: ‘From Reading to Writing: the case for (and against?) the set text option in the Cambridge exams.’ The event was written up on the ETAS blog.
